Mothers are the unsung heroes of our society. Day in and day out, they work the hardest to make life easier for the people they love. So it goes without saying that they deserve to be celebrated every day—and more so on Mother’s Day!
This year’s dedicated day for mamas may look different again, but that shouldn’t stop you from planning something that will make this wonderful woman in your life feel loved and appreciated.
Ahead, we’ve got suggestions for a fun and festive Mother’s Day celebration even if you cannot celebrate with your nearest and dearest in person.
1. Brunch party
Start Mother’s Day morning on a positive note by whipping up a hearty spread for brunch. Wouldn’t it be nice to feed the hand that’s been *literally* feeding you for so many years? We recommend making a cheesy broccoli quiche or sheet-pan pancakes with assorted toppings in your all-in-one oven. Whatever you choose to make, your effort will surely put a smile on her lips. Then you can lovingly set up mom’s breakfast in bed. Invite everyone in the family to have virtual backgrounds of their fave brunching spot during your online brunch party, where you each take turns to greet the queen of the family.
2. Art session
Make art as well as new memories with your mom and the whole family in an art-themed virtual party. Grab your brushes and paint, and discover one another’s creative side. Sketch, paint, get crafty, or do whatever you want, as long as you are all in the art party online. Needless to say, this will make mom’s day lively and colorful.
3. Greeting collection
At this point, your mom surely misses a number of people she hasn’t seen or talked to in months. Ask family members and relatives to share greetings for her. Then compile and design them using Canva, an online design tool that comes with free templates. You can even publish your design into a website format for that extra special touch.
4. Travel throwbacks
Reminisce the carefree pre-pandemic days when you could travel as a family without worries by asking everyone to gather photos from your favorite trip with Mom and take turns sharing anecdotes of that specific getaway. Looking back will surely make you look forward to the day you can go on a family adventure once again.
5. Trivia game
Where did mom grow up? What sport did she play back in the day? What’s her favorite OOTD? Who’s her best friend? See how well the family members know their queen by hosting a trivia game that will be participated by everyone via Zoom. Don’t forget the prizes—we suggest sending out yummy snack treats everyone will love!
6. Afternoon tea party
If it’s too hard to gather everyone for lunch or dinner, opt for a laidback afternoon tea party. A day before the virtual celebration, send everyone a pack of tea as well as some butter cookies that you’ll all enjoy together on Mother’s Day. You can also play this Mother’s Day playlist by Spotify while enjoying your cup of tea.
7. Wine and cheese
For Mother’s Day, elevate your online happy hour with the family by planning a fancy wine and cheese party. Invite everyone to make a toast to the lady of the day and let her know how grateful you are to have her as your mom. Cheers!
8. Movie night
Bring everyone together to enjoy a feel-good film—a great way to cap off this beautiful day. Mom can attend this watch party while lounging in bed, snuggled happily under a cozy comforter
Happy Mother’s Day!
