As it is, weekends are almost always the highly anticipated part of the week. After a long week of having to do things like wake up early, go to work, or what have you, having some time to rest is always something to look forward to. While it might not be much, it’s still some well-earned time to rest.
However, when a long weekend is on the horizon, things are a little different. Whereas a regular two-day weekend usually means some down time for you and your family, a long weekend gives you more room to do a whole host of things. What with all the time you have, it only makes sense that you’d have a lot more room to make other plans.
Of course, sometimes making plans for a long weekend may be a little challenging. Given all the choices and possibilities, it can be difficult to figure out what you can do. Then, there’s the matter of planning it too. However, that shouldn’t really be a cause of worry because there’s still a way to make the whole planning stage manageable. In this case, we’ll help give you some ideas on what you can do for a long weekend! So, if you’re looking for ideas, read on!

Things to Keep In Mind

Before you go on ahead and start planning out your long weekend activities, it’s good to keep a few things in mind. These things will help guide you on what you can possibly do for that long weekend.
First thing’s first, it’s good to keep in mind who you’re planning the activities for. Will it just be you and your partner? Or will you have your kids along? Knowing who you’ll be making plans for and how many you are can help you figure out what the most appropriate activities are.
Another thing to keep in mind would be your budget. Your plans should also factor in how much you can allot for it. You wouldn’t want to overspend or not have enough money, after all. So, work with a budget.
Finally, make sure you know how long your long weekend activities will be. Long weekends may vary, with some being longer than others. So, knowing how many days you have to work with can at least make it easier for you to plan. You can at least make the most out of the weekend and also avoid accidentally making plans that go beyond how long the weekend actually is.
With that in mind, let’s look at a few options for activities and plans you can make for the next long weekend!

Go Out of Town!

One of the most common things that people do when there’s a long weekend is go out of town, and that’s not such a bad idea. Given that you have more time on your hands, taking a trip somewhere does seem like a feasible idea. It’s just a matter of where.
If you’re the type that enjoys going on roadtrips with the family, you could go somewhere you can reach by car. For example, if you’re from Metro Manila, taking a family trip to somewhere like Tagaytay or Batangas is a great idea! You can also go up north and take a trip to places like Subic or Baguio. What’s more, it’s easy to find a place to stay in these areas.
For those who have more time and a bigger budget to work with, you can also take a plane and visit other regions of the Philippines. You can take a trip to places in the Visayas, such as Cebu, Iloilo, or even Boracay. In Mindanao, you can take a flight to places like Cagayan de Oro or Davao. Of course, you’ll have to plan ahead extra and buy plane tickets and find a place you can stay in (unless you have family in those places).

Have a Staycation

If going out of town isn’t something you want to do or have the budget for, but you still want to get out of the house, there’s also the option of having a staycation! There are several hotels all over Metro Manila, so you’ve got plenty of choices with regard to where you want to stay!
Having a staycation at least lets you still have a change of scenery and not have to go too far to do it. Plus, depending on the hotel you stay in, there are things like breakfast buffets, pools, and activity centers that you and your family can still enjoy! Plus, you can do all that within the confines of a long weekend. What’s more, if you’re lucky, you can even get all that done at a discount if hotels or booking sites have promos for certain weekends.

Just Stay At Home

Sometimes, going out of town or staying somewhere else may not really seem appealing to you. That’s fine. Sometimes, home can be the best place you can stay in. So, there’s nothing wrong with spending a long weekend at home.
However, just because you’re staying at home doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t do anything different. There are still tons of ways you can bond with your family over the span of the long weekend. For example, you could go and do a movie marathon and watch all your favorite movies. You could all stay in and just have a do nothing day and give yourselves a much needed break. You could also just celebrate the extended time together by having a good dinner together.
There’s a lot you can do at home, and a lot of them don’t have to burn a hole in your wallet! Even if it might sound cliche, sometimes time at home may be the best thing you all need to just bond more. After all, sometimes good company is all you need!

Before You Go Dive Into That Long Weekend…

This year is filled with long weekends. So, if you want to try and plan ahead, it’s good to look at what months have long weekends and how long they’ll be. By doing so, you can at least save up for the things you want to do, book things like plane tickets or accomodations, and the like.
We know you’ll be able to figure out what you and your family want to do, and we also know that it’ll be great either way. However, planning ahead can at least ensure that you have everything sorted out and won’t have much to worry about when that weekend comes. So, good luck planning and we hope we helped give you some ideas on what to do!
